Catskills life.
I was worried about the rhododendron with so many brown leaves, but when we arrived yesterday it was blooming and had lots of new growth so I think it’s okay.
The herbs and tomato and chile seedlings I planted last weekend survived their 5 days of neglect, and the flower seeds I scattered are sprouting.
We were tired from the Memorial Day traffic on the way up and two hours at Costco, but I made burgers on the grill (first time using it — it desperately needs a good spring cleaning, maybe I’ll do that today) and Chan made a fire. It was a beautiful cool night. No stars but the moon glowed through the brume. The rest of the weekend is supposed to be cold and rainy, so we’ll get some stuff done inside.
(We are brand new Costco members. That place is insane. Lesson: some things are better to buy at a normal store. We will never get through all that ketchup.)
